Namaste! Hope everyone had a wonderful summer! The registration for the BSYV classes 2025-2026 session is now open. Classes are open to all students ages 5-18. 
Like last year, we are offering these virtual classes:
1) Language classes:
•⁠  ⁠Hindi
•⁠  ⁠⁠Bengali
•⁠  ⁠⁠Odia
2) Art class (traditional Indian arts + American themed projects)
3) Samskara classes (religious and spiritual education with Vedic prayers and moral values)
As well as an in-person Yoga class at the Jagannath Hindu Temple of Rosenberg, which you can sign up for at jhthouston.org/yoga.

Prof. Krishna Devarakonda (68Y) a Clinical Pharmacologist by training, widely known as RK, has been teaching Yogasanas, Pranayama and Meditation in the US since 2008. As a Post-Doc he lived in Stuttgart, and Bonn in Germany for about four years and there he taught various aspects of Yoga and Pranayama to many of his colleagues and fellow scientists. RK received formal training in Yoga at Swamy Sivananda Ashram in Rishikesh, India in the year 1976 when he was 19 years old.

 

Later he learned various techniques of Hatha Yoga, Pranayama and Dhyana from many Yoga masters in India. He worked for many years as a University Professor of Pharmacology, and he taught Yoga in his free time to many students and other people of society. RK’s Yoga classes are based on the traditional knowledge derived from the scriptures of Sanatana Dharma, including Ashtanga Yoga of Patanjali. He founded Sanatana Yoga Marg, a non-profit organization in the US in the year 2008 and taught more than 800 Yoga students in St. Louis, MO and in New Jersey over a period of 17 years.

RK’s Yoga teaching style includes traditional concepts, supported by understanding of modern scientific approach. He provides basic awareness of anatomy and physiology of various systems of the human body, particularly of musculoskeletal, neurological, digestive, respiratory and cardio-vascular systems so that the students can understand the right posture, and the right breathing. RK moved from St. Louis to Houston area in 2023 and has already trained quite a few students. He runs his classes on a weekly basis (every Saturday morning) for 1 – 2 hours, with the assistance of trained students.

RK’s Yoga classes are for ALL (Age 5 to 80-years).

A typical weekly session consists of three sessions:

Session 1: Yogasanas: 30 minutes – 1.0 hour

Session 2: Pranayama: 15 minutes and

Session 3: Meditation: 15 minutes
